Years ago, we began writing songs inspired by the characters of C.S. Lewis's novel Till We Have Faces (a retelling of the myth of Cupid & Psyche). Now, we are finally recording these songs and are incredibly excited about how they are coming together! We would be so grateful for your help to fund this project that is so special to us-- and has, in many ways, been the main impulse behind the existence of our band, davy.

davy is the musical duo Megan and Daniel Tavani. We're a married couple based out of Boston, MA. We often perform just the two of us, and sometimes we perform with friends as a 4-5 piece band :) We've had the honor of performing all across the country and have also worked as touring musicians for Owl City, Josh Garrels, and Jon Guerra.
Does this cover the entire cost of the album?
Yes and no. Because of our background, skillsets, and experience with recording, production, and as multi-instrumentalists, we are able to do more of the process ourselves than might be typical for an indie artist. In that sense, our target fundraising goal doesn't nearly represent the full cost of an album of this scale.
It does, however, represent all the expenses necessary for us to make this an excellent and professional album on every level (or so we hope!) - every part of the process we aren't able to do ourselves, or with our own tools.
What exactly is the money going towards?
Almost every part of our cost-breakdown directly relates to paying other incredible artists for their talents: professional musicians, featured artists, studio owners, and visual artists, all of whom (so far) we know personally and deeply believe in. It's a privilege to create this in collaboration with each of them, and we want to honor and support them throughout the process of creating this album.
Aside from practical logistics directly related to these artists (flights, food, and lodging), the only truly logistical/administrative expense we've included is a relatively small budget to help promote this project when it is released.
Does the project actually need to be fully funded by June 15th? Why aren't you using Kickstarter?
We've chosen to use Bandzoogle's platform because they don't take any percentage of the raised funds (which really adds up, even for a project of this size); so every dollar you give will go directly towards this project. We're also already versed in using this platform as a website and online merch platform specifically for independent artists.
Although this platform doesn't require it, we've still included a target end date because momentum is important! But this is not an all-or-nothing campaign model: what you give now will immediately go towards the project. As full-time musicians living in a very expensive city, we really do need this initial capital to turn our passion project into a real product (the album!) reaching real people, online (promotion!) and in person (performances!).

You will also receive updates and sneak-peeks as the summer unfolds and we go from creating to polishing to promoting and performing! What is your intended timeline, and how will I know if you’ve reached your goal?
We are planning to release our first single this summer, with an album part 1 release this fall and a part 2 release in spring 2027 (yes, it's a double album!), which is when you can expect to receive your merch/rewards. We will email you if/when we've reached our goal--but the best way to stay up-to-date is by subscribing to our davy newsletter and/or Substack, and you can also find updates here.
