We've had a very full past month in the studio!
We've been recording quite a bit at our home studio, but at the end of April we headed down to Philly to track at Black Birch Recording Studios with our friends Jeremy & Christopher McDonald - two brothers who are incredibly talented and accomplished musicians.
We had a fun and productive full two days of recording - Daniel tracked all the drums for the entire album! Jeremy recorded a bunch of upright bass (and we spontaneously decided to add electric bass for one track), and he even snuck in a synth line in the last 5 minutes of our time. Christopher laid down some piano, and Megan constantly kept everything running smoothly: printing music, making last minute music store runs, and keeping everyone fed and caffeinated.

Then the very next week we were in Austin, TX to play a show with Jon Guerra - an artist we tour with - but while we were in town we had time to meet up with our dear friends Matthew & Katie Gustafson (we went to conservatory with Matthew, and later played in their wedding). They're both phenomenal musicians and we were thrilled to be able to record with them while in Austin!
Katie lent her beautiful piano playing to the final track of the album, and Matthew recorded several mandolin parts. There was also, unexpectedly, a beautiful nylon guitar in Jon's studio that Daniel was able to take advantage of for two tracks, and he even squeezed in time to record some banjo too.

We're looking forward to lots more recording this month - stay tuned!
